Silhouettes made by J.F. Oberlin in 1789

J. F. Oberlin created a vast collection of silhouettes, using a device that he set up at the manse. He began to systematically sort and analyze all the silhouettes of the people he knew and of visitors to Waldersbach to “know better in order to understand better.”
